We are very excited to share with you that January 16, 2010, will mark the eighth annual Brockport Alumni Dance Showcase in New York City. The program REVISITED VIII will feature eleven innovative works by thirteen Brockport alumni choreographers. The diverse works presented in the showcase include:
- Lyndsey Vader’s High Fructose Fix, which enlivens the stage with driving unison phrasework;
- Heather Roffe’s Vestige, which explores the profound beauty in becoming human, and;
- Katie Politis and Danielle Selby’s 1+1, which investigates absence, presence, and dependence in. Tap artists Leah Fox and Abbey Germano perform a new work with live musicians that is as visually pleasing as it is rhythmically satisfying.
- Marisa f. Ballaro, Sarah Gullo, Sarah Horne, Jocelyn McIntosh, Eddie Murphy, Rebecca Oviatt, and Jenny Showalter will also present works.
After graduation, Brockport alumni continue to engage in the world of dance, spreading the word that Brockport’s Department of Dance is among the most reputable in the country. Many of these choreographers are creating works in New York City, upstate NY, and at guest artist residencies. Within the past year alone, Brockport alumni have presented work at: the American Dance Guild Festival (Manhattan); DUMBO Dance Festival (Brooklyn); DanceNow (Manhattan); WAXworks (Brooklyn); Rebound Dance Festival (New Haven, CT); Dance Project 2009 (Washington DC); Greenspace Blooms (Queens); Uptown Performance Series (Manhattan); Depot Dances (Garrison, NY); DMAC (Manhattan); and Rochester's Flour City Theatre. They have been involved in guest artist residencies for Nova Dance Company at Brown University, and at Western Illinois University. The sampling of artists and works presented in REVISTED VIII provides an invigorating showcase of contemporary dance. We would love to have your support in New York City this year! Please spread the word about this exciting event.
